About this clip
Howard Cosell Roasts Danny Thomas
Howard Cosell was an unmistakable sports broadcaster whose booming voice, elaborate phrasing and combative interviewing style made him both famous and easy to parody. Danny Thomas was a comedian, actor and producer best known for Make Room for Daddy and for founding St.
Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In this clip, Howard Cosell turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Danny Thomas with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
