Don Rickles
Roasts George Burns

About this clip

Don Rickles Roasts George Burns

Don Rickles was the master insult comic whose rapid-fire put-downs made him a feared and beloved fixture at celebrity roasts. George Burns was a vaudeville veteran, comedian and actor whose dry timing, cigar and self-deprecating delivery kept him a star for generations.

In this clip, Don Rickles turns that contrast into roast material, teasing George Burns with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
