Red Buttons
Roasts George Burns

About this clip

Red Buttons Roasts George Burns

Red Buttons was an Oscar-winning actor and veteran comedian whose roast appearances often mixed mock grievance, storytelling and perfectly timed punch lines. George Burns was a vaudeville veteran, comedian and actor whose dry timing, cigar and self-deprecating delivery kept him a star for generations.

In this clip, Red Buttons turns that contrast into roast material, teasing George Burns with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
