About this clip
Howard Cosell Roasts Dean Martin
Howard Cosell was an unmistakable sports broadcaster whose booming voice, elaborate phrasing and combative interviewing style made him both famous and easy to parody. Dean Martin was a singer, actor and effortlessly relaxed television host whose celebrity roast specials became a showcase for famous comics and entertainers.
In this clip, Howard Cosell turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Dean Martin with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
