About this clip
Jack Carter Roasts Ted Knight
Jack Carter was a fast-talking nightclub and television comic known for aggressive timing, topical jokes and a sharp-edged roast style. Ted Knight was an actor and comedian best known for his Emmy-winning role as pompous anchorman Ted Baxter on The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
In this clip, Jack Carter turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Ted Knight with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
