About this clip
Scatman Crothers Roasts Ted Knight
Scatman Crothers was an actor, singer and musician whose warm, distinctive voice and long entertainment career spanned film, television and music. Ted Knight was an actor and comedian best known for his Emmy-winning role as pompous anchorman Ted Baxter on The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
In this clip, Scatman Crothers turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Ted Knight with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
