About this clip

Orson Welles Roasts Frank Sinatra

Orson Welles was the celebrated actor, director and broadcaster behind Citizen Kane, with a commanding voice and theatrical presence ideal for comic contrast. Frank Sinatra was a legendary singer and actor whose style, fame and larger-than-life public image made him an irresistible roast target.

In this clip, Orson Welles turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Frank Sinatra with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
