About this clip
Totie Fields Roasts Lucille Ball
Totie Fields was a popular nightclub and television comedian known for brash self-deprecating humor and rapid-fire delivery. Lucille Ball was one of television comedy’s defining stars, celebrated for I Love Lucy, fearless physical comedy and impeccable timing.
In this clip, Totie Fields turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Lucille Ball with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
