Charlie Callas
Roasts Joe Garagiola

About this clip

Charlie Callas Roasts Joe Garagiola

Charlie Callas was a rubber-faced comedian known for wild vocal sound effects, physical comedy and frequent appearances on television variety and roast programs. Joe Garagiola was a former major-league catcher who became a popular broadcaster, television personality and genial comic foil.

In this clip, Charlie Callas turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Joe Garagiola with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
