About this clip
Gabe Kaplan Roasts Joe Garagiola
Gabe Kaplan was a stand-up comic and actor best known for Welcome Back, Kotter, bringing a dry, conversational delivery to television comedy. Joe Garagiola was a former major-league catcher who became a popular broadcaster, television personality and genial comic foil.
In this clip, Gabe Kaplan turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Joe Garagiola with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
