About this clip
Joe Garagiola Roasts Dean Martin
Joe Garagiola was a former major-league catcher who became a popular broadcaster, television personality and genial comic foil. Dean Martin was a singer, actor and effortlessly relaxed television host whose celebrity roast specials became a showcase for famous comics and entertainers.
In this clip, Joe Garagiola turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Dean Martin with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
