About this clip

Foster Brooks Roasts Bob Hope

Foster Brooks was a comic actor whose signature “lovable drunk” routine turned slurred dignity, delayed reactions and mock seriousness into a classic roast persona. Bob Hope was a well-known public figure and roast subject.

In this clip, Foster Brooks turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Bob Hope with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
