About this clip

Foster Brooks Roasts Jackie Gleason

Foster Brooks was a comic actor whose signature “lovable drunk” routine turned slurred dignity, delayed reactions and mock seriousness into a classic roast persona. Jackie Gleason was a larger-than-life comedian, actor and television host best known as Ralph Kramden on The Honeymooners.

In this clip, Foster Brooks turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Jackie Gleason with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
