Jack Carter
Roasts Jack Benny

About this clip

Jack Carter Roasts Jack Benny

Jack Carter was a fast-talking nightclub and television comic known for aggressive timing, topical jokes and a sharp-edged roast style. Jack Benny was one of radio and television’s defining comedians, famous for exquisite timing and a comic persona built around vanity, stinginess and age jokes.

In this clip, Jack Carter turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Jack Benny with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
