Red Buttons
Roasts Joe Garagiola

About this clip

Red Buttons Roasts Joe Garagiola

Red Buttons was an Oscar-winning actor and veteran comedian whose roast appearances often mixed mock grievance, storytelling and perfectly timed punch lines. Joe Garagiola was a former major-league catcher who became a popular broadcaster, television personality and genial comic foil.

In this clip, Red Buttons turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Joe Garagiola with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
