About this clip
Ruth Buzzi Roasts Dean Martin
Ruth Buzzi was a comedian and actress best known for Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In, especially her frumpy, purse-swinging Gladys Ormphby character. Dean Martin was a singer, actor and effortlessly relaxed television host whose celebrity roast specials became a showcase for famous comics and entertainers.
In this clip, Ruth Buzzi turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Dean Martin with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
