About this clip

Audrey Meadows Roasts Truman Capote

Audrey Meadows was the sharp, poised actress who played Alice Kramden on The Honeymooners and became one of television comedy’s best-known straight women. Truman Capote was the celebrated author of Breakfast at Tiffany’s and In Cold Blood, as famous for his distinctive voice and social presence as for his writing.

In this clip, Audrey Meadows turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Truman Capote with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
