About this clip

Foster Brooks Roasts Truman Capote

Foster Brooks was a comic actor whose signature “lovable drunk” routine turned slurred dignity, delayed reactions and mock seriousness into a classic roast persona. Truman Capote was the celebrated author of Breakfast at Tiffany’s and In Cold Blood, as famous for his distinctive voice and social presence as for his writing.

In this clip, Foster Brooks turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Truman Capote with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
