About this clip

Foster Brooks Roasts Don Rickles

Foster Brooks was a comic actor whose signature “lovable drunk” routine turned slurred dignity, delayed reactions and mock seriousness into a classic roast persona. Don Rickles was the master insult comic whose rapid-fire put-downs made him a feared and beloved fixture at celebrity roasts.

In this clip, Foster Brooks turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Don Rickles with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
