About this clip
Foster Brooks Roasts Rowan and Martin
Foster Brooks was a comic actor whose signature “lovable drunk” routine turned slurred dignity, delayed reactions and mock seriousness into a classic roast persona. Dan Rowan and Dick Martin were the comedy team behind Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In, mixing deadpan hosting with rapid-fire sketches and topical jokes.
In this clip, Foster Brooks turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Rowan and Martin with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
