George Burns
Roasts Jack Benny

About this clip

George Burns Roasts Jack Benny

George Burns was a vaudeville veteran, comedian and actor whose dry timing, cigar and self-deprecating delivery kept him a star for generations. Jack Benny was one of radio and television’s defining comedians, famous for exquisite timing and a comic persona built around vanity, stinginess and age jokes.

In this clip, George Burns turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Jack Benny with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
