About this clip

Jack Carter Roasts Bobby Riggs

Jack Carter was a fast-talking nightclub and television comic known for aggressive timing, topical jokes and a sharp-edged roast style. Bobby Riggs was a champion tennis player and flamboyant showman whose publicity instincts made him a natural target for celebrity comedy.

In this clip, Jack Carter turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Bobby Riggs with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
