About this clip

Jack Carter Roasts Peter Marshall

Jack Carter was a fast-talking nightclub and television comic known for aggressive timing, topical jokes and a sharp-edged roast style. Peter Marshall was an actor, singer and television host best known as the genial master of ceremonies on The Hollywood Squares.

In this clip, Jack Carter turns that contrast into roast material, teasing Peter Marshall with the affectionate exaggeration and show-business one-upmanship that defined the format.
